was born Christophe Antoine Agbepa Mumba in the eastern city of Kisangani in the Democratic Republic of Congo His father Charles Agbepa belonged to the Akula ethnic community largely found in the DRC s northwestern province of Equateur and also gained some fame with the ASV soccer club His mother Amie Moyami was the daughter of a Sierra Leonean immigrant father from whence came the name Agbepa and a mother from western Kasai province Olomide was one of nine children Over the course of his own life Olomide married two women his first wife Marianne Makosso and his second wife Alyanne He had nine children altogether Olomide s father learned of his son s interest in music while the boy studied at the Saint Augustin of Lemba school in the DRC s capital city of Kinshasa At the same time Koffi s maternal uncle Ressé Olomide taught him to play ...
