was born in Akropong, Ghana. His father was a paramount chief. Like many young people living in Akropong, he attended the Presbyterian primary school there. In 1957 Darko began to learn how to play the guitar from a Canadian biology teacher. Darko’s father wanted his son to become a lawyer. However, Darko had other ideas. He moved from home, and agreed to live with his uncle Boafo.
