Rock Steady Crewlocked

  • Serouj Aprahamian

The Rock Steady Crew is a dance group from New York City most well-known for popularizing breaking in the early 1980s. They appeared in the first-ever article about the dance, as well as many subsequent television programs, major motion pictures, world tours, and music videos. When the media fanfare over breaking subsided, members of the group continued to harness its growth through community-based events, educational initiatives, and theatrical productions. As a result, their imprint is etched more firmly on breaking and urban dance than perhaps any other group in hip-hop history.
