Ten Years of the Oxford African American Studies Center
The Oxford African American Studies Center turns ten years old in 2016, a milestone that was difficult to imagine in the early days of online reference publishing. Since its founding, AASC has built on its initial foundation by adding thousands of new articles, primary source documents, and learning resources.
This summer, I had the chance to film a handful of videos discussing the future of the site. This includes an overview of the site I did with Executive Editor Steven Niven, as well as a discussion of the Dictionary of Caribbean and Afro-Latin American Biography with Franklin Knight.
There are more changes to come in 2017, including a full upgrade of the site, an expansion of our various biography projects, and more Community Spotlights on cities like Chicago and Philadelphia.
We're grateful for your continued support of this journey, and we hope you'll reach out to us if you have suggestions or comments. Until then, enjoy your visit to our site!
