Oliver Herbel

Greek Orthodox priest, was born Robert Josias Morgan in Kingston, Jamaica, the son of Robert Josias Morgan and Mariam Morgan. His father died six months after his birth. Morgan received his early education in Jamaica and spent time in Honduras, the United States, and Germany. As a young adult he served as a missionary in Sierra Leone for the Church of England. There he attended the Church Missionary Society Grammar School in Freetown. During this time, the Right Reverend Samuel David Ferguson, bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church in Liberia, appointed Morgan as a lay-reader in the Anglican Church. From Sierra Leone, Morgan traveled to England for further study. According to some sources, he studied briefly at Saint Aidan's Theological College, Birkenhead, and King's College, University of London.
