Gloria Ford Gilmer

Read more about mathematician Gloria Ford Gilmer, who helped found and became president of the International Study Group on Ethnomathematics. Gilmer taught at many academic institutions, encouraging aspiring mathematicians, and she once wrote, “Education is the gift of influence, the ability to inspire. Never forget to pave a way for the next generation. We must lift as we climb”.

Évelyne Trouillot

During her life, Évelyne Trouillot published an impressive collection of works, including several novels, short story collections, children’s books, poetry collections, a play, and a series of articles and essays. Across these genres, Trouillot charts the inner thoughts and interpersonal entanglements of Haitian girls and women and the historical events they experienced, from the Haitian Revolution to natural disasters.
